An Oakland County, Michigan, man crashed his truck into a gas station in Brandon Township late Thursday, then ripped the license plate off the vehicle before fleeing the scene, TheDetroit Free Pressreports. William David Edmonds was ultimately arrested at his Groveland Township home 13 hours later. The Michigan resident had just purchased beer from the store when he turned completely around, "accelerated at a high rate of speed" and struck a gas pump before crashing into the building. Edmonds told police he was attempting to speed around the pumps because his new tires spin so easily, and lost control of his vehicle. Despite tearing off the license plate, Edmonds was clearly seen in store surveillance video, and the store clerk knew him as a regular customer. Edmonds was charged with reckless driving and failing to report an accident on Friday.
