SACRAMENTO – The Fresno State volleyball team is set to wrap up nonconference action at the annual Central Cal Challenge this weekend, where they will face host Sacramento State, Pacific and CSU Bakersfield.
ALL EYES ON ADDI
Fresno State volleyball senior Addison Haluska has been named Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year, the conference announced.
In 2025, Haluska has 119 kills, 12 total blocks and eight service aces so far.
Against CSUN, Haluska tabbed a career-high 31 kills with a hitting percentage of .433 in the five-set match.
Last season, Haluska led the Bulldogs to a 16-14 overall record and a 12-6 mark in league play.
The opposite hitter totaled 463 kills and finished the 2024 season with a .228 hitting percentage.
She also recorded 219 digs, five solo blocks and 58 block assists. Haluska was the only Bulldog named to the Preseason All-Mountain West Team.
THE FINAL STRETCH
Nearing the end of nonconference action, the Bulldogs are 3-5 on the season.
Addison Haluska leads the Bulldog offense with 119 kills and a .260 hitting percentage.
Redshirt freshman Gabby Lombardi has taken on the role of the Bulldog starting setter and has 232 assists on the season and 69 digs recorded.
Newcomer Olivia Lombardi has played in 22 out of 28 sets for the Bulldogs as the libero, accumulating 93 digs.
IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY
Sisters Olivia and Gabby Lombardi both made their first appearance for the Fresno State volleyball team last weekend.
Olivia transferred from Iowa for her r-sophomore season and is now the Bulldogs' starting libero.
Gabby was on the roster in 2024 as a redshirt and did not see any game action until 2025, serving as Fresno State's starting setter.
The Lombardis are no strangers to DI sports, as all five of the Lombardi siblings are or were athletes on DI rosters.
Their brother Rocky played football at Michigan and Northern Illinois, their brother Beau plays football at West Point, and their sister Payton played volleyball at Tennessee Tech.
