'Dogs fall in heartbreaker to Nevada, 6-5

RENO, Nev. – The Fresno State baseball team suffered a heart-wrenching loss to Nevada in walk-off fashion on Saturday at Peccole Park in Reno, Nev.

Despite the defeat, the Bulldogs remain in first place in the conference standings with a 15-8 record in MW play and an overall record of 23-23.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Wolf Pack quickly got on the board in the first inning with a solo home run to left field.

Fresno State responded with a strong second inning. Bobby Blandford doubled to center field and scored on a single from Owen Faust. Cam Schneider and Sky Collins hit back-to-back singles to load the bases. A double from Griffen Sotomayor cleared the bases, resulting in a four-run inning for the 'Dogs.

Nevada trimmed its deficit in the latter half of the inning with an RBI single and a solo home run in the fifth inning.

Murf Gray extended the Bulldog lead, launching a home run on the first pitch of the sixth inning, marking his second of the series.

However, the Bulldog lead did not hold up in the sixth, as the Wolf Pack loaded the bases, walked in a run, and scored another with a sacrifice fly.

Fresno State and Nevada remained locked in a stalemate until the last out of the bottom of the ninth, when Nevada's Sean Yamaguchi unleashed a solo shot to left field, securing a 6-5 walk-off victory for the Wolf Pack.

Murf Gray recorded his 10th home run of the season, his second of the series.

This marks Fresno State's 21st game of the season without an error.
