Olivia Munn "barely knew" husband John Mulaney when she found out that she was pregnant with their son.

The Newsroom actress opened up about the early days of her relationship with Mulaney (whom she first crossed paths with in 2013) in an interview with GQ on Tuesday (November 12), revealing that they weren't even close to dating when she discovered she was pregnant after reconnecting with the actor in 2021.

"It wasn't anything close to dating. I barely knew him."

In fact, Munn and Mulaney didn't pursue a relationship until she was 6 months into her pregnancy with Malcolm, 2. The mother-of-two explained that they had no desire to rush into a marriage and planned to co-parent in "some way."

"It wasn't necessarily 'We're going to be married and live together’ or any of that, but it was 'I will be involved in some way.'"

Munn, who spent the last few years battling breast cancer in addition to growing her family, recalls the moment the comedian found out that he was going to be a father.

"That’s the one thing that made him seem light and happy. I remember he was really excited to tell his parents."

The couple tied the knot in July 2024 and went on to welcome their second child, Mèi, into the world via surrogate a few months later. Munn and Mulaney announced the birth of their second child in a joint Instagram post on September 22.

“Méi June Mulaney came into the world September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon. We stole so much stuff from the hospital. I love my little girl so much. Méi (pronounced may) means plum in Chinese.”

Mulaney also commented on the birth of his daughter in a recent SNL monologue.

“My wife and I just welcomed a baby girl into our family. We have a five-week-old daughter, and a 2-year-old son. My wife takes care of the five-week-old, and I take the 2-year-old out. And that's not fair," he joked.
