By now, you’ve likely listened to the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series actress’ breakout record “Drivers License,” a bittersweet ballad that released to mass acclaim earlier this month with praises from the likes of Taylor Swift.
Since its release, “Drivers License” has broken numerous streaming records and her music video has accumulated over 44 million views on YouTube. Seeing this, the “Graveyard” singer made it a point to send Rodrigo a sweet, sugar-coated surprise to congratulate the 17-year-old pop star on her success.
“Holy s—t thank u @iamhalsey,” Rodrigo wrote in an Instagram Story Monday (January 18) along with a photo of a deliciously on-brand cake customized to look like Rodrigo’s drivers license.
The sweet surprise comes just a week after Swift gave her “baby” a shout-out on social media to congratulate her on the success of her first song.
“Next to taylor on the us i tunes chart i’m in a puddle of tears," the longtime Swiftie wrote on Instagram in response to seeing “Drivers License” place among some of Swift’s Evermore tracks on the charts, to which the “Cardigan” singer-songwriter sweetly responded, “I say that’s my baby and I’m really proud.”
