Chris Norton has defeated all odds stacked against him nearly eight years ago when he suffered a severe spinal cord injury during a college football game.
He first blew away expectations and predicted limitations when he walked across the Luther College graduation stage four years after the hard hit that left him nearly paralyzed. In March 2017, he delivered one of his now-famous speeches when he wanted to step out — or "jump up," as he told the Des Moines Register then — "out of my comfort zone" when he stood on his own for the first time. Through these triumphs, his then-fiancee, Emily Summers, was right there beside him.
And on Saturday, at the couple's wedding in Jupiter, Florida, Norton's determination was on display for another emotional and inspiring act: He walked 7 yards down the aisle alongside his wife. That's exactly what he had vowed.
