Frenchman's Attempt To Soar Over English Channel On Homemade Flyboard Fails

Franky Zapata says he will again attempt to soar across the 22.4-mile English Channel on his homemade flyboard someday after failing to do so on Thursday. The AP reports that the 40-year-old daredevil crashed into the water as he attempted to land on a platform halfway across the Channel in order to refuel his kerosene-filled powerpack. He'd hoped to land in the Dover area of Southeast England after taking off from Sangatte, France. “These are the kind of things that can happen,” his wife Christelle told reporters. “He will do it again,” she said. “He never sits back after a failure.” Zapata was rescued by French divers after his crash.
