Colbie Caillat Goes Full-On Country With New Band, Gone West

Colbie Caillat already had massive pop success with her folky hit "Bubbly," and collaborated with Taylor Swift on her early song "Breathe." Today, however, the singer-songwriter is aiming for full-on country success with her new band, Gone West. The group's recently issued single, "What Could've Been," calls to mind Lady Antebellum, with its co-ed harmonies and country-folk vibe. According to group member Nelly Joy, who used to be in the JaneDear Girls, the rest of the band's songs--which they wrote with Nashville stalwarts such as Tom Douglas and Liz Rose--are similar. “We sought out to write music from our hearts and that’s usually storytelling and lyric-driven," she said. "And that lends itself to country music.”
