On Wednesday night,Jeopardy!whiz James Holzhauer won his 30th straight game, taking home $69,033. Even more notable, the champ is now just $196,729 away from the record earnings total of $2,343,971 amassed by fellowJeopardy!icon Ken Jennings. On Tuesday morning, before Holzhauer's milestone win, Jennings toldGood Morning Americathat he was "really excited" about Holzhauer nearly catching up to his record. "For 15 years, I have thought somebody was going to make a run at this record because I always knew it could be done," Jennings added. "What I did not expect was somebody could make a run at the cash record in, like, a third the time." Jennings still holds the all-timeJeopardy!win-streak record of 74 games, meaning Holzhauer has a long way to go before catching up to that feat.
