Comedian Tim Conway, who starred on The Carol Burnett Showand McHale's Navyand in a slew of family-friendly films, passed away in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The cause of death was water on the brain,Variety reports. Conway won six Emmys over the course of his long career, including one for a memorable 2008 guest appearance on 30 Rock. In addition to his side-splitting exploits as part of Burnett's troupe, he lent his voice to animated shows like SpongeBob Square Pants and Scooby Doo, and released a series of comedic how-to videos as a diminutive Scandinavian character named Dorf.
Burnett was among several celebrities to react to Conway's passing. "I'm heartbroken," she told TODAY in a statement. "He was one in a million, not only as a brilliant comedian but as a loving human being. I cherish the times we had together both on the screen and off. He'll be in my heart forever." Meanwhile, Conan O'Brien tweeted, "When I was a kid, no one made me laugh harder than Tim Conway," while Judd Apatow called Conway "pure comedy" and "as kind as he was funny."
