Senior Kameron Thorn scored a career-best 77.5 and earned MOP honors in Horsemanship

BISHOP, Ga. - The No. 7 Fresno State equestrian team fell 16-3 to the defending National Champion Georgia on Friday afternoon at the UGA Equestrian Complex. Fresno State suffered its first defeat of the season with its loss to the second-ranked Bulldogs of Georgia.

Earning one point each in the fences, horsemanship and reining, Fresno State saw the Most Outstanding Performer honors in the horsemanship. Senior Kameron Thorn earned her first horsemanship MOP of the season with a career-high 77.5 in the event.

How it Happened

Fresno State and Georgia opened up with the fences and horsemanship on Friday, as the Fresno State Bulldogs picked up a point in each event. In the fences, Georgia won the first three points but Grace Mathias edged her opponent 76-74 for her second fences point of the season. Georgia closed out with the final point of the afternoon, taking the event 4-1.

Fresno State won one point in the horsemanship, behind the MOP performance by Thorn. Junior Alex Kreds tied in her ride with a 72.5. Georgia took that event 3-1 to take an 7-2 lead into the break.

Georgia swept the flat 5-0 to extend its lead to 12-2. Senior Lexee Padrick won the Fresno State point in the reining, remaining undefeated on the season. Padrick won her point on a 70.5-69.5 ride.

  • Kameron Thorn’s 77.5 is the highest horsemanship score by any Bulldog since 2019.
  • Thorn is 3-0 on the season.
  • Lexee Padrick also remains undefeated on the season.
  • Alex Krebs has tied in all three rides on the year. She is 0-0-3 entering tomorrow's competition.
  • Fresno State lost the jumping seat events for the first time this season.
