Dierks Bentley Returns With New Song 'Gone'

Dierks Bentley has returned with new music and has shared his brand new song, "Gone."

"Gone" follows Bentley's 2018 album, The Mountain, and was written by Nicolle Galyon, Ben Johnson and Niko Moon and produced by David Garcia. In the chorus, Dierks talks about a heartbreak, singing, "I’ve been gone, I’ve been gone/ I’ve been sittin’ on the couch watching TV all day long/ All day long I’ve been tryin’ to figure out how a good thing went wrong/ Faster than that freight train, farther than that airplane/ Sadder than a country song/ Headed down that highway, anywhere but my way/ Ever since you moved on, I’ve been gone."

In a statement to iHeartRadio, Dierks explained of his new song, "When I first heard that title, I just thought it was a great title for the times right now. I've heard a lot of songs this summer and some are about the situation we're all going through, some are just all over the place. But, I just liked that idea of 'Gone,' and I feel like I've been gone for a couple months now off the road, and actually not even living in Tennessee right now, [I'm] out in Colorado. [It's] just a great song about the idea about a girl leaving a guy and the guy's been gone ever since, sitting on his couch, but he's been gone. And just feels like a great country lyric. And, I love the metaphor of 'Gone' being used slightly to kind of describe how I feel right now. And I'm sure a lot of country music fans feel with a live concerts being gone."

The country star added of getting to work on new music during this time, "It's been a weird year for writing, but a lot of fun too. We did a lot of Zoom writes and I got a chance to write with a lot of people I normally haven't written with. And this particular song, 'Gone,' I've been writing a little bit with Hardy and David Garcia, and had a lot of fun and actually asked David to produce this track, 'Gone.' I just love the writing on this song and the production, mixing in those big guitars and drums with some instruments like dobros and banjos, which are important to me to kind of find a blend of those two worlds. So really loved the production, loved the writing."

Dierks is set to perform his new song "Gone" during the 2020 iHeartCountry Festival Presented by Capital One on Friday, October 23rd. Fans can tune in to watch at 7pm CT/8pm ET/5pm PT via an exclusive stream on livexlive.com. The show will also be broadcast live across iHeartMedia's Country music radio stations all over the country, as well as on iHeartCountry Radio via the iHeartRadio app.
