Norma Bastidas is attempting to set the world record for longest triathlon by, so far, swimming 95 miles, biking 2,932 miles and now she's about to finish up by running 735 miles. Should be done in Washington, DC by the end of April. Whew! I'm tired just typing this! Those miles would more than double the previous record, and more importantly, Norma is doing this to raise awareness of abuse from which she suffered as a teen. Go Norma, go!
And another woman is putting it all on the line today at the Boston Marathon. In ceremonies, those lost are being remembered and those injured are being celebrated. And a big standing O goes to Heather Abbot, a spectator who lost her left leg amidst the horror of last year's race. Heather, 39, is running this year with a prosthesis.
P.S. Meb Keflezighi has placed first in the men's event, the first American to win since 1983. As you might expect, the women's race was won by a Kenyan. her name...Rita Jeptoo. DaveT
